MYTH: Women provoke rape by the way they dress or the way they flirt.
FACT: There is no correlation between who is raped and the clothes they are wearing or their flirtatious behavior at the time. A man might rationalize his actions by pointing to the woman's behavior, but that is an excuse rather than a reason. Rape is all about power and control rather than a matter of sex.

MYTH: Strangers commit rapes at night in dark alleys
FACT: In approximately 3 out of 4 rapes, the survivor knew the person who raped them. Men rape women in broad daylight. Often, survivors trust the person who subsequently rape them.
